A military corvette caught fire in the waters of the Pacific Ocean.

In the international waters of the Pacific Ocean, a fire broke out on board the corvette Guise, belonging to the Peruvian Navy. At least two Peruvian sailors were injured in the fire. The cause of the fire, according to a number of sources, was the detonation of several ammunition (according to other sources, the fire occurred in the engine room - ed.), while the ship itself was extinguished within 5,5 hours.

“At least two people were injured in a fire that lasted several hours on a Peruvian warship participating in exercise RIMPAC 2022,” a Navy spokesman said on Sunday. The Peruvian Navy has identified the ship as a BAP Guise (CC-28) corvette in a statement. According to Robertson, two people in "critically stable" condition were evacuated from the Joint Task Force surface ship by French helicopter from the frigate FS Prairial (F731). They were taken to the US Coast Guard cutter USCGC Midgett (WMSL-757), then to the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), and then to the shore., - reports the information resource "USNI News".

It is not known how serious the damage to the warship that took part in military exercises is, however, given that the fire lasted for 5,5 hours, experts believe that quite serious damage could have been caused to the corvette. However, there are no official statements from the command of the Peruvian Navy in this regard yet.
