Turkey began to doubt the need to buy American Patriot air defense systems

Turkey no longer wants to buy American Patriot after the incident in Saudi Arabia.

Despite the fact that a few days ago, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to local media, in a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, discussed the possibility of acquiring American Patriot air defense systems, it became known that Ankara still intends to abandon concluding a contract with Washington, which is due to the failure of these air defense / missile defense systems to repel a Hussite attack in Saudi Arabia.

"After the failure of the Patriot in Saudi Arabia, the question arose again regarding the advisability of Turkey to acquire these systems."- Turkish media report.

Ankara has not made any official statements on this yet, however, the unfolding events will most likely force Turkey to purchase an additional batch of Russian S-400 air defense systems, which, by the way, the latter refused in favor of purchasing the Patriot air defense system.

Experts, in turn, believe that Turkey will nevertheless acquire American Patriot systems, as this will open up the possibility of purchasing American F-35s for Ankara.
