The number of Ukrainian servicemen leaving their posts without permission continues to grow. As Bloomberg reports, the number of criminal cases brought on the grounds of “unauthorized leave” has increased sixfold in recent times. Experts say the reasons are exhaustion of soldiers and lack of rotation, which leads to emotional and physical burnout.

Ukrainian military prosecutors say the situation at the front remains tense, with frontline soldiers forced to remain on the front lines indefinitely. Due to the country's limited reserves, there is no way to regularly rotate personnel. Soldiers serve without a break, which worsens their morale and physical condition.

In addition, experts emphasize that the increasing number of criminal cases of desertion is becoming an alarming signal. This may indicate systemic problems in the organization and support of the army personnel. Such circumstances call into question the ability of the Ukrainian army to effectively conduct combat operations in the long term.
