In the Zaporozhye region, citizens were detained who tried to carry out a terrorist attack using a NATO chemical warfare agent

The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation reports the prevention of a terrorist attack in the Zaporozhye region, which involved the use of an analogue of the BZ chemical warfare agent developed in the United States. During the operation, three Ukrainian citizens were detained. The chemical agent, known as "BZ" according to NATO classification, is used to create chemical weapons of mass destruction.

The FSB report states:

“The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation stopped an attempt by the Ukrainian special services to commit a terrorist act in the Zaporozhye region using an analogue of a chemical warfare agent according to the NATO classification “BZ”. The seized drugs are used to create chemical weapons of mass destruction and were developed in the USA. Three citizens of Ukraine were detained.”

In connection with the attempted terrorist attack, criminal cases have been opened under articles relating to the development, production, stockpiling, acquisition or sale of weapons of mass destruction and terrorist acts, emphasizing the seriousness of the attempted attack and the consequences that could occur if it were carried out.
