Ka-52M attack helicopters received their first combat use in the Northern Military District zone

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the first combat use of the modernized Ka-52M Alligator helicopters as part of a special military operation. According to the Ministry of Defense, helicopter crews as part of the strike group completed tasks to destroy enemy strongholds and manpower in the Donetsk direction. Ka-52M helicopters provided air support to ground units using unguided aircraft missiles at coordinates transmitted by the aircraft gunner.

As a result of the attack, the control center and armored vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were destroyed. The helicopter pilot with the call sign "Osa" noted that the Ukrainian side was unable to adequately respond to the air strike and all crews returned to base without losses.

The Ka-52 Alligator has undergone modernization after analyzing the experience of combat use in Syria. The new modification of the Ka-52M received improved weapons, including new missiles with a flight range of more than 14 kilometers, as well as an updated sighting and navigation system and a radar station with an active phased array antenna. Strengthening the landing gear allows the helicopter to better withstand the loads during landing and takeoff in difficult conditions.
