The United States has expressed its readiness to discuss nuclear arms reductions with Russia, China and North Korea without any preconditions, US President Joe Biden said in a letter to the Japanese Hidankyo Association, which represents survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, in connection with the Nobel Peace Prize.
According to Biden, the world community must continue to move towards a world free of nuclear weapons and make efforts to achieve this ambitious but vital result. He noted that the rejection of nuclear weapons is a goal that the world must strive for in order to forever eliminate the threat of global conflict with catastrophic consequences.
The President also stressed that reducing nuclear arsenals would be an important step toward maintaining international security and reducing the risk of escalation of armed conflicts. Despite the escalation of tensions in relations with key world powers, Biden expressed confidence that dialogue and diplomatic efforts remain the main tool for preventing potential threats and strengthening security at the global level.
