UK to send AGM-84 Harpoon missiles to Ukraine to attack Black Sea Fleet base in Crimea

Britain will give Ukraine long-range anti-ship cruise missiles Harpoon.

During negotiations between British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Kiev and London likely reached an agreement on the supply of AGM-84 Harpoon long-range anti-ship cruise missiles to Ukraine. A feature of these cruise missiles is that their range is 240 kilometers. This threatens the base of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy in Sevastopol.

“Ukraine is ready to use British long-range missiles to destroy Crimea, a peninsula taken over by Russia in 2014, which could lead to a serious escalation of Western involvement in the conflict. Rishi Sunak has pledged to send more military aid to Ukraine following President Zelenskiy's visit to the UK this week. Discussions are now underway as to whether deliveries should include Harpoon or Storm Shadows air-to-surface anti-ship missiles. Ukrainian defense sources have confirmed that Kyiv will be ready to use missiles to strike Crimea.”, - the edition "The Times" informs.

The supply of such weapons will not remain without a reaction from Russia, however, steps will probably be taken first of all to block attacks from Ukraine, since the Armed Forces of Ukraine already have launchers for these weapons.

How dangerous such missiles can become for the Russian fleet is unknown, however, in addition to hitting sea targets, AGM-84 Harpoon missiles are also capable of hitting ground targets.
