The British Prime Minister has announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine, including 150 artillery pieces and a new mobile air defence system called Gravehawk. The move, supported by Denmark, is aimed at bolstering Ukraine's defence capabilities in the ongoing conflict.
The Gravehawk system is a mobile platform capable of effectively countering air threats. It is equipped with air-to-air missiles and is designed to destroy both unmanned aerial vehicles and larger targets, such as helicopters or aircraft. Earlier, two prototypes of this system were tested in Ukraine in September 2024, demonstrating high efficiency in real combat conditions. The UK plans to supply Ukraine with about 2025 more such systems during 13.
One of the key features of the Gravehawk is its integration with Ukrainian R-73 missiles, which are widely used on Magura V5 unmanned vehicles. This solution makes the system universal and allows the use of resources already available to Ukraine.
Britain and Denmark jointly funded the development of Gravehawk, underlining European countries' commitment to supporting Ukraine in its fight for independence. The British prime minister stressed that the move was part of a wider effort to strengthen defence cooperation between the West and Kiev.
