The Venezuelan warship Capana ran aground off the coast of Falcon State.

The Venezuelan Navy's T-61 Capana-class tank landing ship ran aground near the town of Cumarebo in Falcón state during a training exercise with about 300 personnel on board, local military sources said.

The incident occurred on Sunday, October 12, during maneuvers near the coast. The ship, built in 1983 at the Korea Tacoma shipyard in South Korea, partially sank due to hull damage. It is estimated that military personnel and technicians participating in training were on board at the time of the accident. The vessel, with a displacement of 4070 tons, can carry up to 202 troops and 1800 tons of cargo, reaching speeds of up to 15 knots.

Caracas officials have not released details about the condition of the crew and passengers, but rescue teams are already at the scene. The ship's fate remains uncertain: repairs are possible, or it may be decommissioned due to severe damage. This incident occurred against the backdrop of the recent intense maneuvers of the Caribe Soberano 200 in September, in which the Capana also participated.
