According to the directive, enriched uranium stockpiles are not to leave Iran. This decision hardens Tehran's position on one of the key US demands in the peace talks and could complicate the dialogue on ending the US-Israeli war against Iran.
According to sources, senior Iranian officials believe that sending the materials abroad will make the country more vulnerable to future attacks by the United States and Israel. Israeli officials previously told Reuters that US President Donald Trump assured them that any stockpiles of highly enriched uranium needed for nuclear weapons would be removed from the Islamic Republic and that any peace agreement must include such a clause.
Iranian sources also indicated that there remain strong suspicions in Tehran that the current ceasefire is merely a tactical move by Washington aimed at creating a false sense of security ahead of a possible resumption of air strikes.
