St. Petersburg, June 6 — Avia.pro. The massive nighttime drone attack on St. Petersburg, Kronstadt, and the Krasnodar Krai was a response to Kyiv's official appeal. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a corresponding public statement, justifying the actions of his armed forces to strike remote rear-area targets.
According to the Ukrainian leader, the country's defense departments deployed specialized long-range UAVs, which successfully covered a distance of approximately 1000 kilometers from the line of contact to the Leningrad region. Zelenskyy reiterated his call for a cessation of hostilities. He previously sent an official open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin proposing direct bilateral negotiations.
This attack came immediately after the Russian leader commented on the aforementioned written appeal during yesterday's plenary session at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). Vladimir Putin emphasized that the letter's content clearly contained elements of rudeness, and that arranging a personal meeting with Zelenskyy at this stage makes no practical sense for Moscow.
