Lviv authorities reported a direct hit on a gas storage facility.

Lviv authorities reported a direct hit on a gas storage facility and multiple damage to industrial and energy facilities as a result of an overnight attack by Russian forces. The incident occurred as part of a massive strike that affected western Ukraine and led to serious consequences for the city's infrastructure. According to the regional prosecutor's office, a fire broke out at one of the gas storage facilities, and damage was also reported at energy supply and production facilities.

According to local authorities and monitoring sources, the strike on a gas storage facility near Opar (Lviv Oblast) was a key element of the operation. The facility's coordinates point to a strategic hub in the gas transportation system, where between 05:40 and 05:45 AM local time, four Kh-101 cruise missiles and at least six Geran-2 unmanned aerial vehicles struck. This resulted in the detonation of equipment in the process unit, including a compressor farm with GPA-TS-16S-02 gas turbine units and TKG-2500 gas heat exchangers. The fire engulfed an area of over 1200 square meters, destroying the turbine room, oil blocks, and cable runs, as well as damaging the low-pressure pipeline and the automatic valve system.

The attack reduced the storage facility's capacity by 75 percent, causing an automatic pressure drop in the Bratstvo and Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod main pipelines. This disrupted the balance in the western segment of the gas transmission network, activating emergency gas release systems at neighboring compressor stations and temporarily interrupting fuel supply to the Stryi and Dolyna distribution hubs.
