War correspondents fear Ukraine's strikes on Moscow City due to footage of Russian drones being used from the building

Russian military correspondents are expressing concern about possible Ukrainian drone strikes on Moscow's business center after the publication of a video demonstrating the control of combat drones from the Moscow-City complex. The footage, published by the state-run RIA Novosti news agency, shows an operator, located in one of the skyscrapers, controlling an FPV drone attacking Ukrainian Armed Forces positions in Chasov Yar, located in the DPR. Military correspondent Vladimir Romanov noted in his Telegram channel that these materials could give Kyiv a reason to justify potential attacks on Moscow-City, claiming that the strikes are aimed at drone operators. He expressed concern that if Ukrainian kamikaze drones hit the capital's high-rises, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will claim that their target was military facilities.

The publication of the video caused a stormy reaction in Russian and Ukrainian media. According to Romanov, the publication of such footage effectively designated Moscow City as a potential military target, which could provoke an escalation of the conflict. The video, which was soon removed from RIA Novosti's Telegram channel, managed to spread on social networks, intensifying discussions about the safety of Moscow skyscrapers. Demonstrating the control of drones from a civilian facility puts residents and workers of the complex at risk, and also provides the enemy with arguments to justify attacks.

The situation around Moscow City is exacerbating the already tense situation in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. According to Reuters, the business center was already attacked by Ukrainian drones in 2023, which damaged the facades of several buildings but did not cause casualties. These incidents forced the Russian authorities to strengthen air defense measures in Moscow, including installing additional air defense systems and radar stations.
