An Il-76 military transport plane crashed in Sudan.

Military news, December 10, 2025, Avia.pro. A Sudanese Armed Forces Il-76 cargo plane crashed on Tuesday west of Port Sudan, killing all crew members. The incident occurred during a humanitarian food delivery mission.

According to military sources, reported to Al Jazeera, the plane crashed in the Adaravib district, approximately 10 kilometers from the city, due to a technical malfunction. There were no signs of enemy fire. The Sudanese Air Force has not yet issued an official statement, and the exact number of casualties is being determined during search and rescue operations.

Videos are circulating online showing the transport plane, engulfed in flames, descending unsteadily and crashing into the ground, scattering debris. AFP, citing an anonymous source, clarified that the Il-76 crashed while attempting to land at the Osman Digna airbase in the Red Sea port city.

This aircraft type, the mainstay of the Sudanese air force, suffers from frequent equipment failures due to a shortage of spare parts and excessive workload during the conflict. The crash marked yet another loss for the Sudanese Air Force, although this time the operational support forces denied any involvement.

The incident unfolded against the backdrop of a protracted civil war, pitting forces under General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan against fighters from Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo's Rapid Support Forces. The clashes have claimed an estimated 150 lives and displaced over 10 million people, triggering the world's largest humanitarian crisis.
