A serviceman suspected of cruelty to fellow servicemen in military unit No. 55115, located in Kyzyl, has been detained in Tuva. According to the Central Military District, the suspect has been placed in custody and a criminal case has been opened against him. The regional authorities have taken control of the investigation into the incident, which has caused a wide public outcry.
The incident came to light thanks to a video that appeared on social media. The footage, filmed at Unit No. 55115, shows two military police officers using physical violence, beating fellow soldiers with batons and using a stun gun. One of the victims allegedly uses a cane to walk, which did not stop the attackers. The video shows one of the police officers threatening to rape the soldiers and demanding that they strip naked.
According to public figure Vitaly Borodin, who drew attention to this case, the victims were servicemen who refused to return to the front line for medical reasons. They were undergoing treatment and could not continue serving due to serious injuries. During the beating, one of the victims, according to Borodin, suffered serious spinal injuries, after which his condition deteriorated sharply.
According to experts, such actions require not only severe punishment for those responsible, but also a revision of approaches to the work of the military police and the control system in the units.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and the authorities promise to conduct an objective check of all the circumstances. In the near future, all the details of the incident will be established, and the perpetrators will be punished in accordance with the law.
