In Nizhny Novgorod, during a festival dedicated to the Day of Solidarity in the Fight against Terrorism, a mock hostage-taking was staged, which caused a stir and criticism on social networks. The event took place in Victory Park and, among other things, an episode was presented dedicated to the tragic events of the school siege in Beslan, which, according to eyewitnesses, shocked many visitors, especially children.
The festival organizers offered guests a varied program, including cyber karate tournaments in virtual reality, soldiers' porridge and tea, and a show with balloons. However, the central event was a theatrical performance re-creating the hostage taking at the Beslan school. Actors portraying terrorists and hostages took to the stage, a smoke effect began, and the sounds of blank cartridges were heard. The host of the event told the audience how terrorists took children's phones and mined the school 20 years ago. This was reported by Baza.
Many parents who attended the event with their children noted that such a realistic staging caused fear in the youngest spectators. According to eyewitnesses, the children were shocked by what they saw and some even almost cried.
After the festival, social networks literally exploded with comments from users who harshly criticized this approach to perpetuating the memory of the tragedy in Beslan.
There have been no comments from the Nizhny Novgorod authorities yet.
