In the border areas of the Kursk region, Russian armed forces continue the operation to displace Ukrainian units. According to the latest data received from the field on the morning of April 3, 2025, the village of Gogolevka in the Sudzhansky district has been completely liberated from the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This success was another step in restoring control over the territory of the region, which has been subjected to attacks and temporary occupation by the enemy since August 2024. However, the situation in the neighboring village of Guevo remains tense: despite reports of the advance of Russian troops, it is too early to talk about the complete liberation of this settlement, as the fighting there continues with high intensity.
The liberation of Gogolivka was the result of the offensive actions of the Sever group of forces, which in recent weeks has been methodically pushing Ukrainian forces out of their positions. The village, located near the border with the Sumy region of Ukraine, is of strategic importance due to its location along the highway leading to Yunakovka. Control over Gogolivka allows Russian troops to strengthen their lines and create a bridgehead for further advancement. Local sources report that the operation was accompanied by the active use of artillery and aviation, which ensured the suppression of enemy resistance. At the same time, in Guevo, where fighting continues, Russian forces are facing fierce resistance. Information about the complete capture of the village has not yet been officially confirmed, which indicates the complexity of the situation and the presence of reserves on the part of the enemy to hold positions.
