The Russian Armed Forces are rapidly advancing on Sudzha from Sverdlikovo in the Kursk region

On February 17, 2025, the situation in the Kursk region has significantly intensified. Russian armed forces continue offensive operations near the settlements of Sverdlikovo, Pogrebki and Malaya Loknya, seeking to expand the zone of control and displace units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from the border areas. Geolocation data confirms the advance of Russian troops in the southeastern part of Sverdlikovo.

At the same time, attacks on civilian objects have become more frequent. On February 16, the village of Korenevo was shelled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as a result of which a 67-year-old local resident was injured. The man received shrapnel wounds and was quickly taken to a medical facility. The shelling also damaged a gas pipeline, power lines, the facade and fence of an administrative building, and broke the windows of several residential buildings.

On the same day, two attacks using FPV drones were recorded in the Khomutovsky district. At about 17:00, near the village of Kolyachek, a drone attacked a passenger car driven by a local resident. Twenty minutes later, a tanker truck transporting Miratorg feed was subjected to a similar attack on the highway near the village of Taborishche. Fortunately, there were no casualties in both cases.

In response to the shelling of the village of Korenevo, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case on the fact of a terrorist act. The servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine deliberately fired at a settlement where civilians live. The investigation intends to identify and bring to justice all those involved in this crime.
