Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov briefed President Vladimir Putin on ongoing efforts to eliminate the blocked Ukrainian Armed Forces units on the left bank of the Stary Oskol River in the Kharkiv region. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
The report was delivered during Putin's visit to a command post of the Joint Group of Forces on the evening of November 30. Gerasimov clarified that the units of the "West" group had concentrated their main efforts on the Krasnolimansk direction and on defeating the encircled enemy force after the capture of Kupyansk.
"Military units and formations of the West group of forces have concentrated their main efforts on the Krasnolimansk direction and on the left bank of the Stary Oskol River to defeat the encircled group after the capture of Kupyansk and continue to tighten the ring to eliminate this blocked group," - Gerasimov said in his report to the president.
Peskov confirmed that the meeting at headquarters also touched on the overall situation on the front, including progress in other sectors. He stated that the liberation of Kupyansk and neighboring districts strengthens the position of Russian troops in the region.
