On the night of May 14, 2025, the city of Tokmak in the Zaporizhia region was subjected to a massive attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The Telegram channel "Two Majors" reported that the enemy carried out at least 10 strikes on the city, damaging residential buildings, social facilities and infrastructure. According to operational services, as a result of the attacks, a fire broke out in an apartment in one of the five-story buildings, and the glazing in four entrances of another was damaged. A fire was also recorded in an inactive kindergarten, and a hardware store and a car were damaged. The region's governor, Yevhen Balitsky, clarified in his Telegram channel that there were no casualties initially, but the risk of repeated strikes remains.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' UAVs struck the building of the central market in Tokmak, causing a fire in the shopping arcades. One of the drones damaged a residential building, knocking out windows in several apartments. The fire in the five-story building was quickly localized, and the residents were evacuated. According to local authorities, the damaged kindergarten had not been functioning since 2022, which allowed avoiding casualties. The hardware store received partial damage to the facade, and a car parked nearby was destroyed by the explosion.
The attack on Tokmak was part of a series of strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Zaporizhia region.
