The Ukrainian Armed Forces fired at the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant from a long-range MLRS

Ukrainian forces attempted an attack near the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, but all attacks were successfully repelled by Russian air defense systems. According to SHOT, four incoming missiles were recorded, but none of them reached their target. All the munitions fired were intercepted by air defenses, which prevented damage to the plant.

One of the munitions fell approximately five kilometers from the nuclear power plant, where a fire subsequently broke out. Emergency services are currently working at the scene, trying to localize the fire. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties, but an assessment of the damage caused and the scale of the consequences of the incident continues.

Although the immediate threat to the Kursk NPP was averted, it remains unclear whether the plant was the primary target of the attack. Experts suggest that the strikes could have been aimed at facilities near the NPP in order to damage critical infrastructure in the region. So far, official sources have not confirmed which facility was specifically targeted.
