On May 9, 2025, the border village of Tyotkino in the Glushkovsky district of the Kursk region once again came under attack from the Ukrainian armed forces seeking to break through the Russian border. As reported by the Telegram channel "Upravlenie Z", in the morning the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted to penetrate Chapayev Street, but were stopped at the approaches by intense fire from Russian FPV drones and artillery. The attack failed, and Russian troops continue to hold their positions despite the destroyed infrastructure and new tactical maneuvers of the enemy. The situation highlights the ongoing escalation in the border area, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces are intensifying their efforts, including preparations to force rivers.
Ukrainian forces have been stepping up attacks on the Glushkovsky district in recent weeks, using small infantry groups, armored vehicles, and ATVs. On the morning of May 6, about ten Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters attempted to enter Tyotkino from the village of Ryzhevka in Sumy Oblast, but were repelled. Russian troops used mortars, FPV drones, and reconnaissance UAVs, destroying several vehicles, including ATVs and engineering vehicles.
The new tactics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are alarming. Ukrainian forces are conducting river crossing exercises, probably preparing for attacks using boats. This is due to the fact that all fixed bridges over the Seim River in the Glushkovsky district were destroyed by Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes in August 2024.
