In the fighting in the Kursk region, the Russian army is facing elite units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) trained by Western instructors. This was reported by the battalion commander of the 810th Marine Brigade, call sign "Yak", in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"The enemy has brought here the best units that have undergone the highest quality training. If an ordinary Ukrainian mobilized person is trained for about a month, then these units were trained in the West for three months. Moreover, their mentors were high-level professionals, not random instructors," - noted the officer.
According to him, among the units involved, the 3rd Regiment of the Special Operations Forces (SOF) of Ukraine occupies a special place, whose fighters are capable of independently training other servicemen. These elite units, according to the commander, demonstrate a high level of training, which makes them a serious opponent.
However, despite this, Russian marines have repeatedly encountered similar formations and successfully repelled attacks.
"We've given them a good run for their money, so they don't like us, to put it mildly. But you definitely shouldn't underestimate them. Nevertheless, we'll cope - it's not our first time, and our training is no worse," — the officer emphasized.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry as of November 28, during the fighting in the Kursk region, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 36 servicemen and 223 tanks. Ukrainian troops, who attempted to invade Russian territory on August 6, were stopped and their advance disrupted.
