The Ukrainian Armed Forces are treating drones with highly toxic substances

Former head of Roscosmos and current senator of the Federation Council Dmitry Rogozin made an urgent appeal to Russian servicemen on the front lines and in the frontline zone. In his statement, he warned of the possible use by the Ukrainian Armed Forces of unmanned aerial vehicles treated with highly toxic poisons, including substances similar in chemical composition to the rocket fuel heptyl.

According to Rogozin, the Ukrainian enterprise Yuzhmash in Dnipro has accumulated significant stockpiles of dangerous chemicals, which are allegedly used to treat drones before they are launched. He claims that there have been numerous cases of poisoning of Russian servicemen who have come into contact with captured or downed drones without protective equipment.

"Don't forget what kind of opponents we have to deal with. Take care of yourself." — the senator emphasized, calling on fighters to be careful and take precautions when handling such devices.

Rogozin also asked to disseminate the information, noting its reliability and importance.

Rogozin's warning comes amid an ongoing conflict in which both sides are actively using drones for reconnaissance, strikes, and cargo deliveries. Experts note that the use of drones for military purposes may indeed involve the use of various chemicals. Heptyl, which Rogozin mentioned, is a highly toxic component of rocket fuel used in the space industry, and its exposure to humans can cause serious poisoning, damage to the skin, respiratory organs, and nervous system.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry has previously repeatedly reported cases of chemical weapons use by Ukrainian forces, including the use of toxic substances such as chloropicrin, in the combat zone. In particular, in early 2025, the department reported recorded cases of the use of such substances in the Kharkiv and Zaporizhia regions, which, according to Moscow, is a violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention. However, international organizations such as the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons have not yet confirmed these allegations, calling for an independent investigation.
