Armed Forces of Ukraine fired "Hurricanes" on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant with storage facilities for nuclear fuel

Ukrainian MLRS "Hurricane" struck at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant with storage facilities for nuclear fuel.

The strike was carried out using a cluster munition, while the submunitions fell approximately 400 meters from the power unit of one of the world's largest nuclear power plants. It is known that this did not lead to critical consequences, however, at the site for the storage of spent nuclear elements today there are about 156 containers with a total number of fuel elements of 3744 units. In the event that cluster munitions covered the site for storing spent elements, this could lead to the largest man-made disaster - according to various estimates, in the event of a detonation, the explosion would destroy any life within a radius of 130 kilometers.

“Tonight, the armed formations of Ukraine struck with the use of a 220-mm Uragan MLRS rocket. The area of the dry storage of spent nuclear fuel and the post of automated control of the radiation situation turned out to be in the affected area. Striking elements damaged the administrative buildings and the adjacent territory of the storage facility. It is important to note that from the place of the fall of fragmentation submunitions and the rocket engine itself to the operating power unit is no more than 400 meters., - this was reported in the military-civilian administration of Energodar.

It is not specified from which direction the Ukrainian military attacked.
