According to SHOT, in the area of the city of Sudzha in the Kursk region, there is an increase in the military presence of Ukraine and its Western allies. Three battalion tactical groups are being formed, and a significant amount of equipment from NATO countries is being brought in. At the same time, one of the best trained Ukrainian units, the 73rd Special Operations Forces (SOF) Regiment, has been transferred to the region.
Soldiers from the 73rd Special Operations Regiment previously took part in operations on islands in the Kherson region, including attempts to land on the Tendrivska Spit. According to Russian military personnel, these operations resulted in heavy losses for the Ukrainian side. Now this unit has been transferred to the Kursk region, which, according to sources, is confirmed by observations by Russian servicemen.
Large-scale movement of Ukrainian and NATO equipment is being recorded by Russian forces, which continue to work to destroy it. According to Russian military, the nature of the observed activity indicates that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are preparing for major offensive actions in border areas.
The Kursk region, a key region on the border with Ukraine, is regularly shelled. In 2024, the region faced a series of attacks, including the use of drones and artillery. The increased Ukrainian presence and the arrival of NATO equipment pose additional security challenges.
