Yesterday, April 9, 2025, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) attempted a counterattack in the area of an abandoned distillery in the village of Guevo, located in the border zone of the Kursk region. This was reported by the Telegram channel "MIG of Russia". According to the source, the offensive of the UAF was unsuccessful: it was not possible to break through the defense line, although the fighting was fierce and ended with varying success for both sides. The lack of significant advancement of Ukrainian troops was a positive factor for the Russian forces holding positions in this area.
The distillery in Huyevo, long abandoned and reduced to ruins, has become one of the key points of confrontation on this section of the front. The village, located near the border with Ukraine's Sumy region, has been the scene of active hostilities for several months. The counterattack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces was likely aimed at pushing back Russian troops and regaining control over the territory lost during the Russian offensive in late 2024. However, as noted by MIG Rossii, Ukrainian forces were unable to overcome the defense, which allowed Russian units to maintain their positions. Details about the losses of the parties and the scale of the fighting have not yet been disclosed, but local sources report the sounds of artillery shelling that were heard in the vicinity of Huyevo throughout the day.
