Ukrainian units have been observed to be armed with mobile satellite communications antennas that are identical in appearance to the American RD-2A Mission Control Element ground stations used for data exchange and flight control of RQ-4B Global Hawk high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft. This was reported by military observers who published photographs of the systems in the combat zone.
"Previously unknown satellite communications systems similar to the American systems used for information exchange and flight control of the RQ-4B Global Hawk high-altitude reconnaissance drones have been spotted in the Ukrainian army's arsenal.", — noted in the publication of the analytical channel.
The systems operate in the C, X, and Ku bands, providing communications via military and commercial satellites. Experts speculate that the terminals allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to receive real-time intelligence from American drones, including the coordinates of strike targets. The Pentagon and Kyiv have not confirmed the delivery.
