The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue attacks on the Kursk region

On the night of May 16, 2025, the border areas of the Kursk region were again attacked by Ukrainian armed forces. According to the Telegram channel "Two Majors", the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) made a series of attempts to break through the state border in the area of the village of Tyotkino in the Glushkovsky district, as well as in the directions of Ryzhevka and Bessalovka in the Sumy region. All attacks were repelled by Russian units, which used artillery, mortars, FPV drones and small arms. Despite significant losses, the enemy continues offensive actions, using FPV drones to cut off Russian forward positions and impede their supply.

One of the key episodes was the destruction of an engineering and clearance vehicle (EDM) of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the morning of May 15, which was moving out of the village of Atynskoye in the Sumy region. Russian FPV drone operators carried out a precise strike, destroying the equipment intended for mine clearance and making passages in the fortifications. In addition, a group of motorized infantry on light vehicles, which tried to support the breakthrough, was destroyed. In the Ryzhevka-Tetkino direction, Ukrainian infantry also attempted to cross the border, but was scattered by artillery fire and drone strikes. From the village of Bessalovka in the Sumy region, located to the east, another assault group tried to break through, but failed under heavy fire from Russian forces.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces paid special attention to the city of Rylsk, which was attacked by FPV drones three times during the day. On the morning of May 15, a Ukrainian drone attacked a civilian car on the highway in the village of Bolshenizovtsevo in the Rylsk district, as a result of which two civilians, men aged 38 and 48, received shrapnel wounds.
