Attacks by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on vehicles have been recorded on the Rylsk-Korenevo highway in the Kursk region, local residents report. According to eyewitnesses, one of the strikes completely destroyed a civilian vehicle, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), apparently, are trying to achieve a complete blockade of traffic on this strategically important road.
The Rylsk-Korenevo highway (regional highway 38K-030) is a key transport artery linking the urban-type settlement of Korenevo with the city of Rylsk and further on with Sudzha. Control over this road is of strategic importance, as it provides logistics in the border zone and can be used to transport troops and equipment. Local residents report that drone attacks, presumably FPV-type, have become more frequent in recent days, leading to temporary traffic restrictions.
The escalation of attacks on the Rylsk-Korenevo highway coincided with ongoing fighting in the Tyotkino direction, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to cut off the salient near the village of Tyotkino. Earlier, in August 2024, the Ukrainian Armed Forces had already attempted to capture Korenevo in order to take control of this highway, but were unsuccessful.
