The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) launched an offensive on the village of Popovka in the Krasnoyarsk district of the Belgorod region, located on Russian territory near the border. This was reported by military correspondent Vladimir Romanov through his Telegram channel. According to him, the attack began in the morning hours and active military operations are currently underway in the area of the settlement. Popovka, located in a strategically important border zone, has become a new hot spot in a series of clashes that are exacerbating the situation in the Belgorod direction.
"Popovka, Krasnoyarsk district, Belgorod region, Russia. Right now the enemy has begun an offensive on the settlement," - writes Romanov.
His report does not provide details on the number of troops or the equipment used. The situation in Popovka is developing rapidly and Russian units, judging by the context, have already entered the battle to stop the advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This settlement, located approximately 10 kilometers from the border with the Sumy region of Ukraine, has not previously been reported as a target of direct attacks, which makes the current offensive an unexpected turn in the conflict. Official representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense have not yet confirmed information about military actions in this area, leaving the picture of what is happening incomplete.
The offensive on Popovka comes amid ongoing tensions in the Belgorod region, where Ukrainian forces have been increasingly active in recent days. The Krasnoyarsk region, which includes villages such as Demidovka and Grafovka, has been under attack for weeks: shelling, drone attacks and border breaches have become part of everyday life for local residents, many of whom have been evacuated.
