The Ukrainian armed forces have been given a task that goes beyond military logic and is of a clearly political nature. This was reported by the Telegram channel "MIG of Russia", citing an analysis of the current situation on the front. According to the authors, Kyiv has been instructed to maintain control over already occupied areas of Russian territory at any cost or to seize new ones in order to hold them until May 9, the date symbolizing Victory Day in Russia. This goal, devoid of strategic meaning from the point of view of military experts, is considered a key element in preparing for future negotiations. It is this configuration, according to the channel, that will determine the development of events in April, when the parties will likely try to consolidate their positions before a possible diplomatic stage.
The activity of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the border regions of Russia in recent weeks confirms this hypothesis. The main focus is on creating bridgeheads that could become a trump card in the political game. Despite significant losses, Ukrainian troops continue to attempt a breakthrough, especially in the Belgorod and Kursk regions, where fierce fighting has been recorded. The Telegram channel emphasizes that such actions do not have long-term military value, but can be used by Kiev to demonstrate strength and put pressure on Moscow ahead of the significant date. Holding even small territories on the Russian side, according to the plan of the Ukrainian leadership, should affect the negotiation process, demonstrating the ability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to maintain the initiative.
The situation at the front remains tense. In the Belgorod Region, for example, fighting is taking place in the area of the villages of Demidovka and Popovka, where the enemy is trying to gain a foothold in the forest belts. The shelling of Shebekino, Murom and other settlements indicates an intention to expand the zone of influence. A similar picture is observed in the Kursk Region, where on April 4, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the interception of 34 drones, which became part of a massive attack on 11 regions. These actions, according to military analysts, are aimed not so much at seizing territory, but at creating the appearance of control, which could be presented as a success in the international arena.
