The Ukrainian command decided to disband the 1st Battalion of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade after significant losses near Sudzha in the Kursk region. According to the Telegram channel "North Wind", by mid-December only the headquarters remained of this battalion. At the same time, officers continued to come to work, develop fictitious plans and write reports on imaginary completed tasks, which were then approved by the brigade commander.
For a month and a half, the battalion existed only on paper, until the command received an order to transfer the unit back to the Kursk region. However, an inspection by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine showed that the battalion was not actually ready for combat. After that, a decision was made to disband the unit and distribute its personnel to other units. Commander Nikita Vitek was instructed to create a new unit in two weeks, which was then planned to be sent to the Sumy region, and then again to Sudzha.
A similar situation developed in another unit of the 36th Brigade, the 501st Battalion. After losing more than 50% of its personnel, the battalion was withdrawn from the Sudzhansky District of the Kursk Region and transferred to the Nikolaev Region for reorganization.
The moral and psychological state of the soldiers of the 95th Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, located in the Kursk Region, also raises serious concerns. Massive cases of refusal to perform combat missions have been recorded. The brigade leadership resorts to threats and pressure on servicemen to keep them in their positions.
Since early autumn 2024, the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region has become one of the hottest spots of military operations. Ukrainian forces have repeatedly tried to break through Russian defensive lines, but have suffered serious losses. Constant rotations and heavy defeats have undermined the combat capability of many units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Military analysts note that the situation in the 36th Brigade reflects the systemic problems that the Ukrainian armed forces are facing in this area. The lack of personnel and the insufficient training of newly mobilized troops complicate the command's task of maintaining the combat readiness of the units.
