War correspondent Yuriy Kotenok reported on a new attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the infrastructure of the Bryansk region. On the night of March 29, 2025, Ukrainian drones struck an electric transformer substation, which led to serious power outages in one of the region's populated areas. According to the war correspondent, the incident was another episode in a series of attacks that he called "chronicles of an energy truce," emphasizing their targeted nature against life support facilities.
According to Kotenok, kamikaze drones were used for the attack, which hit key elements of the substation. As a result, the equipment failed, leaving residents of a nearby village without electricity. The war correspondent did not specify the exact location of the facility, but noted that the attack did not result in human casualties, which was the only positive moment in this situation. Repair crews quickly arrived at the scene, but the time frame for restoring power supply remains unknown due to the scale of the damage.
This incident is part of a series of strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on energy infrastructure in Russia's border areas. The Bryansk region, located near the Ukrainian border, regularly becomes the target of drone attacks. According to regional authorities, more than 2025 such incidents have been recorded in the region since the beginning of 20, including damage to power lines and gas networks.
