The Ukrainian military shot down a cruise missile from a MANPADS.

The Ukrainian military successfully detected and destroyed a cruise missile from the Martlet man-portable air defense system. To date, such video footage is shown for the first time, since the process of intercepting a cruise missile from a complex, the range of which is only about 7 kilometers, is considered extremely difficult, if not impossible.

On the presented video footage, you can already see the moment of the destruction of the cruise missile, which, according to the Ukrainian military, was shot down from the British-made Martlet portable anti-aircraft missile system. It is quite difficult to determine the type of missile from video footage, not to mention its ownership, however, experts have made a number of assumptions about how the Ukrainian military managed to successfully intercept a cruise missile from MANPADS.

“We are certainly talking about a cruise missile and this is indeed a very significant achievement, given that the missile was not shot down in an open area. However, you should pay attention to the fact that the missile was at a high altitude, and, therefore, it is much easier to detect and hit it even from MANPADS. This is probably how the Ukrainian military managed to achieve this result.”, - the analyst notes.
