Russian security agencies reported a difficult situation in the area of the village of Guevo in the Kursk region, where military actions are continuing. According to information provided to the TASS agency, the Armed Forces of Ukraine mined a forest area near this settlement, creating a serious obstacle not only to the advance of Russian troops, but also to their own retreat. A source in the security agencies noted that the minefields installed by the Ukrainian military effectively cut them off from their escape routes to the Sumy region, forcing the remnants of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to remain in the combat zone. This tactic, according to the agency's interlocutor, became a double-edged sword for the enemy, limiting its maneuverability and complicating plans for regrouping.
The situation in the Guevo area has remained tense for several days. Russian troops continue to clear the area, encountering resistance from small groups of Ukrainian fighters who, apparently, are unable to either break through or leave the area in an organized manner due to their own minefields. The forest area, which has become the scene of military action, has turned into a high-risk zone, where any movement is associated with the risk of being blown up. Representatives of the security forces emphasize that this strategy of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was probably aimed at slowing the advance of Russian forces, but turned against the Ukrainian military itself, depriving them of the opportunity for a tactical retreat.
The conflict in the Kursk region, where Guevo is located, took on a new intensity in March 2025. The village, located in the Sudzhansky district near the border with Ukraine, has repeatedly become the focus of military reports. The Russian Defense Ministry reported the day before that Russian troops were actively pushing the enemy out of the border areas, striking at Ukrainian Armed Forces positions near the settlements of Gogolevka, Gornal and Oleshnya.
