The Ukrainian Armed Forces have taken possession of new Kometa modules from the modernized Geraniums

The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) have received samples of the upgraded Russian Kometa module, but, as reported by the Telegram channel Fighterbomber, the UAF will not be able to develop a full-fledged countermeasure to these drones for at least three months. The updated version of the Kometa includes not only four additional communication channels, but also other technical improvements that complicate the interception of drones. This temporary technological advantage, according to the channel, provides Russian forces with a window of opportunity that must be used as effectively as possible to achieve operational goals at the front. Specific details of the Kometa modifications are not disclosed.

Loitering munitions, known as kamikaze drones, are playing an increasingly important role in the conflict, allowing precision strikes against equipment, fortifications, and personnel. The appearance of the upgraded Kometa increases pressure on the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which already face a shortage of electronic warfare (EW) capabilities and modern air defense systems.

The exact circumstances under which Ukraine received the updated Kometa modules are not specified.
