The Federation Council of the Russian Federation has officially set the date for the presidential elections to March 17, 2024. The corresponding resolution was adopted by the chamber at a meeting on Thursday.

The text of the resolution on calling presidential elections, which is at the disposal of RIA Novosti, reads: “Schedule the presidential elections of the Russian Federation for March 17, 2024. This resolution comes into force on the day of its official publication.”

First Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Committee of the Federation Council Vladimir Poletaev previously explained that calling elections for the President of Russia in accordance with Article 102 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation is the exclusive authority of the Federation Council. From the moment the resolution comes into force, the official election campaign begins.
