Russian FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov said that the recent foray by Ukrainian troops into the Kursk region was intended to provoke a harsh response from Russia. According to Bortnikov, the Ukrainian armed forces deliberately organized attacks on border areas, seeking to escalate the conflict and create conditions for a larger-scale confrontation.
Bortnikov emphasized that Ukraine and its Western partners were counting on Russia’s reaction, which could be used in the information war against Moscow.
It should be noted that part of the Kursk region has been under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for 2 months, while the enemy is launching counterattacks, intending to expand the zone of control.
