An explosion at an electrical substation left 12 thousand residents of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region without electricity

Unknown persons committed an act of sabotage at an electrical substation in St. Petersburg, as a result of which 12 thousand people in the city and some areas of the Leningrad region found themselves without power supply. The incident occurred on the night of April 3, causing significant disruption to the operation of the power system.

According to Baza, the Krasnogvardeisky district of St. Petersburg was plunged into darkness after local residents heard sounds resembling two powerful explosions. Eyewitnesses to the incident immediately reported the incident to emergency services.

Police and special services officers were sent to the scene and found traces of sabotage at the electrical substation. The damage to two transformers was critical, with torn holes measuring 10 and 20 centimeters in diameter, respectively. One of the transformers, according to preliminary data, cannot be restored.

In connection with the incident, the investigative authorities opened a criminal case under the article “Sabotage”. Measures are being taken to search for those involved in the crime and to clarify all the circumstances of the incident.
