An explosion occurred at the Kyiv-based Army FM radio station, caused by an army munition used as an exhibit. According to official information, the incident occurred due to the activation of a detonator that was not properly defused. The victim was a woman born in 1999, who was hospitalized with serious injuries. The incident was confirmed by representatives of the radio station and the police.
The radio station's staff claim that the munition was used for decorative purposes and was previously in a collection of military artifacts. According to preliminary data, the device was supposed to be defused, but either this was not done or the inspection was improperly carried out. Law enforcement agencies are investigating to determine how the active munition ended up on display and who is responsible for it.
Local sources report that the incident caused panic among the radio station staff. Following the explosion, the building was temporarily evacuated, and police, rescue workers and bomb disposal experts arrived at the scene. The area around the radio station was cordoned off for several hours to check for other potentially dangerous objects.
