Explosion in Lyubertsy: No Casualties

On April 17, 2025, an explosion occurred in Lyubertsy, Moscow Region, on the territory of the Vtoralyuminprodukt plant, which specializes in the processing of aluminum scrap. According to the SHOT Telegram channel, the emergency occurred during the technical launch of a shredder designed to crush metal. Emergency services, including firefighters and rescuers, quickly arrived at the scene to assess the situation. According to preliminary information, the explosion did not result in casualties or serious damage, and the plant continues to operate as usual. Local residents reported a loud bang and black smoke rising from the plant, which caused alarm in nearby residential areas. The authorities called on the population to remain calm and not to spread unverified information about the incident.

The incident at Vtoralyuminprodukt was yet another incident in the Lyubertsy industrial zone, where fires and explosions had previously been recorded. According to updated information, the explosion was related to the technological process, and not to external influences. Representatives of the plant reported that the shredder unit, where the failure occurred, was undergoing scheduled testing. The plant's specialists and emergency services are conducting an inspection to establish the exact causes of the accident. At the moment, no fire has been recorded on the territory, and gas emissions typical of the processing of metal cylinders do not pose a threat to the environment.

According to MSK1.RU, local residents associate the incident with the peculiarities of the plant's operation, which had previously stopped accepting pressurized metal cylinders due to the risk of gas accumulation. This could have been one of the causes of the explosion, since such materials require special processing conditions.
