The attack on the enterprise in the Petrovsky district was the latest episode in a series of incidents involving the use of drones in Russia's border regions. The Saratov region, located more than 600 kilometers from the combat zone, has repeatedly been the target of such attacks in recent months. In particular, strikes have previously been carried out on strategically important facilities, including the airfield in Engels, where long-range bombers are based, as well as on oil refineries.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, on the night of March 13, air defense forces intercepted and destroyed several drones over the region. The department emphasized that the attacks were aimed at military and industrial infrastructure facilities, but a significant number of drones were neutralized. The type of drones was not officially specified.
