A crater about 50 meters in diameter was discovered in a field near a gas distribution station in the Yefremovsky District of the Tula Region. According to preliminary information, a Ukrainian S-200 missile may have fallen there, causing a loud explosion that local residents heard at about 5 a.m., BAZA reports.
According to emergency services, the explosion was reported by residents of the Yefremovsky district, who woke up from a loud "bang". After that, specialists began to survey the area and discovered a crater, which raised suspicions about a possible missile fall.
There is currently no official confirmation of the origin of the explosion or the type of munition, but sources say it is likely to be an S-200 missile, previously used by Ukraine to strike Russian targets. This modified Soviet missile has been used in similar attacks on infrastructure in Russia, including attempts to hit gas pipelines and other key targets.
Currently, sappers and emergency services specialists are working at the site, checking the area for unexploded ordnance and assessing the degree of possible threats.
