According to eyewitnesses, the incident may have been caused by an attack by Ukrainian kamikaze drones, although the official authorities of Voronezh and the Voronezh region have not yet confirmed or denied this version. The roar woke up local residents, many of whom took to the streets to assess the situation, and videos and photos from the scene began to spread on social networks, capturing smoke and the glow of fire in the distance.

Governor Alexander Gusev then noted that casualties and destruction had been avoided, expressing condolences to those affected in other regions, such as the Moscow Region, where three people died. According to RIA Novosti, the massive attack was the largest since the beginning of the conflict, affecting the Kursk, Moscow, Belgorod and other regions.
