On the evening of November 11, in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Region, a 10-year-old schoolboy suffered severe hand injuries after the detonation of a homemade explosive device disguised as gift wrapping with a 10-ruble bill attached. The child picked up the object from the ground near a residential building on his way to practice. The explosion severed several fingers, and the boy was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
The Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Moscow Region has opened a criminal case under Article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code (attempted murder of a minor).
FSB bomb disposal experts and forensic experts are working at the scene. Explosive, molecular genetic, and fingerprint examinations have been ordered. Door-to-door canvassing and CCTV footage are being reviewed.
Residents are asked to report any suspicious objects immediately. The Investigative Committee's central office has taken control of the investigation.
