Explosions at warehouses in Tver region: Arsenal was considered impregnable to attacks

A nighttime strike by a Ukrainian drone on an ammunition arsenal in Toropets, Tver Oblast, has cast doubt on claims about the reliability of the storage facilities, which senior military officials said were protected even from a nuclear strike, Tsargrad reports. Former Russian Deputy Defense Minister, Army General Dmitry Bulgakov, previously called these facilities “super-storage facilities” capable of withstanding air and missile strikes. However, as it turned out, the attack by a simple drone caused the ammunition to detonate and forced local authorities to evacuate residents.

According to data as of the morning of September 18, several regions of Russia were attacked. As reported by Tsargrad, a drone struck Toropets in the dead of night, which led to a fire and massive explosions on the territory of a military unit.

According to Professor Marat Bashirov, this incident could be a "sentence" for General Bulgakov, under whose leadership such storage facilities were built. He recalled that the former deputy minister assured the public of the exceptional reliability of the facilities, but now that a strike by an ordinary drone has led to such serious consequences, trust in his statements has been seriously undermined.
