A large-scale attack by Russian kamikaze drones "Geran" has begun in Ukraine. According to local sources, explosions were recorded in Chornomorsk, Nikolaev region and other areas of the country located near the Black Sea coast. There is currently no information on the scale of the destruction, but eyewitnesses note the active actions of mobile air defense groups.
According to Ukrainian monitoring resources, new waves of drones continue to approach the borders of Ukraine - at least 16 drones are reported to be currently heading towards various targets in the country. Sources warn that the attack could be one of the largest in recent times.
Local residents are actively posting on social media evidence of air defense systems attempting to repel the attack.
The Geran UAV is a Russian loitering munition (kamikaze drone) designed to destroy various land and sea targets. It autonomously loiters in the air and attacks targets, exploding on impact. The drone is used for pinpoint strikes on enemy fortifications, equipment, and manpower, creating difficulties for air defense systems due to its small size and low cost. Geran is effective for mass use, which makes it in demand in the conflict.
