Explosions over Aleksin: Air Defense Repel Drone Attack

Late in the evening of January 13, 2025, a series of explosions thundered in the city of Aleksin in the Tula region. The first of them was recorded at about 23:45. Eyewitnesses reported 8-12 loud sounds that accompanied the operation of the air defense system. According to preliminary data, the attack was carried out using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), presumably launched by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the SHOT Telegram channel.

According to local authorities, the air defense system successfully responded to the targets, preventing serious consequences. As of the night of January 14, there were no official reports of casualties or damage. The Tula Region Administration is conducting an additional survey of the area and clarifying all the circumstances of the incident. Residents are urged to remain in shelters until the air raid alarm is completely lifted and to maintain information silence so as not to jeopardize safety.

Drone attacks have become more frequent in recent months, highlighting the need to strengthen air defenses in central Russia. In early January, air defense forces also successfully repelled drone attacks in other regions of the country, such as the Bryansk and Kursk regions. The main targets of strikes typically include critical infrastructure, industrial facilities, and military bases. Aleksin, an industrial center in the Tula region, may have become a target for these reasons.
