On the night of June 14, 2025, Haifa, one of Israel's largest cities, was hit by Iranian ballistic missiles, causing a massive fire near the local oil refinery. Videos published on the Baza Telegram channel showed bright flashes and thick smoke rising above the city's industrial zone. According to Israeli media, the attack was part of Iran's response to Israel's strikes on nuclear facilities in Natanz the day before. Israel has declared a national alert, and Haifa has declared a state of emergency.
According to local authorities, the fire at the Haifa refinery started at around 23:00 p.m. local time after several rockets hit. The fire quickly spread, engulfing oil tanks and causing heavy smoke. Fire crews and rescue services are working at the scene to try to contain the blaze, but the intense fire and the threat of further strikes are making the task difficult. According to preliminary information from the Ynet portal, at least 12 people were injured in the attack, three of whom are in serious condition. Residents of nearby areas are being evacuated, and citizens are urged not to leave bomb shelters.
Iran's Tasnim news agency called the attack "Operation Retribution," saying the Haifa refinery was targeted because of its key role in supplying Israel with fuel. The IRGC said the attack used medium-range ballistic missiles and Fattah-2 hypersonic missiles, which are capable of penetrating Israeli air defenses. The IDF, meanwhile, said some of the missiles were intercepted by Iron Dome and David's Sling systems, but several hit their targets, including industrial facilities in Haifa and the Krayot.
At the same time, Israel continues to strike Iran. According to Reuters, the Israeli Air Force has attacked military targets in Tehran, including IRGC warehouses and command centers. Explosions have been reported in the Iranian capital near Imam Khomeini Airport, and local residents have reported power outages. Iranian authorities have confirmed the deaths of 92 people as a result of Israeli attacks, but independent sources have not yet been able to confirm these figures.
